Brig Gen UM Bello is the Director in the Directorate of Human Resource Development of the Centre since Feb 21. He hails from Jada in Adamawa State and attended Nigerian Defence Academy as a member of 38 RC where he read Bachelor of Science in physics. Bello obtained his Masters Degree in Security and Strategic Studies from University of Ibadan and Masters in International Affairs and Strategic Studies from NDA. He was commissioned into the Nigerian Army Infantry Corps in 1991.
A seasoned infantry general, Bello attended several courses which include: Young Officers Infantry Course, Mortar Platoon Commanders Course, Unit Air Defence Course, Basic Range Management Course and Company Amphibious Operation Course. Others are Junior and Senior Staff Course, Conflict Management for Peacekeepers, Training the Trainers on International Humanitarian laws and National Defence Course Nigerian among others.
Bello served in various commands, staff and instructional capacities. These includes; Platoon Commander and Company Second in Command in 26 Guards Battalion Bonny Camp. Company Commander and Officer Commanding at 3 Guards Battalion Abuja, Senior Instructor at Nigerian Army School of Infantry Jaji. He was a Commanding Officer 222 Battalion and Commanding Officer NIBATT 21 UNMIL among others. The infantry General was also a member of Training Team at Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Deputy Director Peace Keeping Operation AHQ, Director of Recruitment AHQ, Director Examination TRADOC, Pioneer Comd 63 Brigade and Commander 4 Brigade among others. He earned several decorations some of which are Field Command Medal and Command Medal. Bello exercises his wealth of operational experience and unique way of reading situation at decisive moments to achieve set goals.
