Professor Ikenna Mike Alumona is on sabbatical appointment with the Nigerian Army Resource Centre where he is the Deputy Provost. He hails from Atani in Anambra State. He is a Professor of Political Science and the immediate past Head of the Department of Political science, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (formerly Anambra State University), Igbariam, Anambra State, Nigeria. Professor Alumona attended University of Nigeria, Nsukka and the University of Ibadan where he bagged his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees respectively. He has a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from National Open University of Nigeria. He received his PhD from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria, with specialty in Comparative Government and Politics. His primary research interests and area of specialization are in the areas of comparative politics, peace and conflict studies, party politics, pressure group politics, electoral and security studies. He has published essays in reputable journals. He is the co-editor of The State in Contemporary Nigeria: Issues, Perspectives and Challenges (John Archers, 2016) and Internal Security Management in Nigeria: Perspectives, Challenges and Lessons (Palgrave Macmillan, 2019), Regionalism, Security and Development in Africa (Routledge, 2021). He is married to Amaka Alumona and the marriage is blessed with three lovely children.
