The Director General, Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Maj General Johnny Hamakim has been appointed the Special Children Peace Project Ambassador by the Child President Children’s Government of Nigeria. This took place recently during a courtesy visit by the President, Children’s Government of Nigeria Hauwa Musa and her team to the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Abuja.
In her speech,Her Excellency HauwaMusasaid the children’s Government is an advocacy platform of the children of Nigeria and a pet project of Yobe State Government.She stated that the Nigerian Army should be celebrated not only as one of the best military in the world, but also in their laudable achievements in the fight against insurgency and other internal security challenges across the country.
“Today the Nigerian army has deployment in the thirty six states of the Federation. Officers and men are dying on a daily basis, with many wounded members of the military lying down in different hospitals which has become a signature of all the army barracks in Nigeria, especially in the North East”. She said.
Miss Hauwa informed the Centre that the children foundation will empower all widows and expose the wounded officers and soldiers to the best medical facilities in the world.
The Director General, Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Maj Gen Johnny Hamakim commended the members of the group for their progress in providing succour to the less privileged and families of the fallen heroes,more especially as they have also visited the theatre of Operation in the North East.
He said that their visit has undoubtedly been of historical significance and has contributed immensely in promoting civil-military relations which the Nigeria Army projects with pride.
Gen Hamakim, stressed that the organization of young leaders would no doubt assist greatly in promoting humanitarian services as it affects many IDPs and fallen heroes. He opined that their innovative gesture will go a long way in putting smiles on the faces of the beneficiaries.
He further observed that their collaboration with NIPOST for the project of this great magnitude is encouraging and should be applauded bearing in mind the importance of children in nation building.
The children were conducted round the Museum to see some military artifacts and other objects of historical importance. The high point of the event was the unveiling of NIPOST international Courier and online platform for the Donation of Relief Materials to the members of the military who are victims of insurgency.
In a related development, the Explore Club of Nigeria also paid excursion visit to the Nigerian Army Resource Centre. The coordinator of the team of young readers, Mrs. Claris Ujam said the Explore Club is a non-governmental organization aimed at encouraging young people to acquire positive knowledge for purposeful living. “We are a group of readers and believe that readers are champions and leaders”, she stated, adding that excursions help to expose members to different careers.
