The Director General Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Maj General Johnny Hamakim (rtd) has said that for every promotion, there is always the need to work assiduously harder in order to meet up with the demands of the new rank.
This he stated during the decoration ceremony of one the senior officers of the Centre who benefitted from the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) recent 2018 promotion. He charged the newly decorated senior officer Col Kalu Okwareke Kalu to be ready to brace up to the challenges and responsibilities that will come with his new rank.
Gen Hamakim further advised the senior officer to be more critical while taking decisions to avoid anything that could jeopardize his profession in the course of his carrier.
In his remarks, the Director of Administration (DOA), Brig Gen AA Orukotan stressed that promotions always come with hard work in order to justify the trust reposed on him by the Nigerian Army. He congratulated Col Okwareke Kalu for his elevation to the new rank. He also advised him to continue to let his elevation reflect in the lives of his family members.
In his vote of thanks, Col KO Kalu thanked God for sparing his life to witness the day and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt Gen TY Buratai for finding him worthy of the enviable rank. He said the promotion couldn’t have been made possible without the grace of the almighty God. In the same way, he thanked the DG NARC Maj Gen Hamakim (rtd) for his mentorship and professional guidance throughout the years. He equally assured all present that he will re-double his effort to justify the trust reposed on him.
Col Kalu was born on 16th of March 1967 to the family of Mazi and Mrs Okwareke Kalu of Amakofia Ututu Arochukwu LGA of Abia State. He was enlisted into the Nigerian Army as a member of the Direct Regular Course 11 at the Nigerian Defence Academy from September 1999 to March 2000. Thereafter, he was commissioned with the rank of Lieutenant in the Nigerian Army in year 2000. Until his recent promotion to the new rank, he has been the Assistant Director Administration, Nigerian Army Resource Centre.
Present at the ceremony were the Directors, senior officers, soldiers, civilian staff of the Centre, family and well-wishers of the newly decorated senior officer.
