A delegation from the Advance Command and Staff College (ACSC) United Kingdom paid a visit to the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC) as part of their world study tour to Nigeria.
The delegation which was led by, Group Captain Andrew Dickens RAF comprised of twenty five (25) senior officers from ASCS and UK Defence Attaché to Nigeria, Brigadier Charles Calder OBE.

In his welcome address, the Director General of the NARC Major General GA Wahab (rtd) welcomed the ACSC delegation to the Centre. He informed the delegation that the Centre was established in 2015 but started activities in 2016 as a think- tank to proffer solutions to the Nigerian Army (NA) and the Nation on defence and security issues.
General Wahab said, the Centre is not only research-based but also undertakes the training of Nigerian Army personnel in Human Resource Management, Strategic Management and Policy Studies, Indigenous Languages Course, among others.
In his lecture titled; Nigeria’s National Security-Threats and Challenges, the Executive Director (ED) NARC Consult, Major General IM Yusuf gave a bird’s eye view of the insecurity in the North East and other forms of threat in Nigeria as a watershed from the scramble for Africa as a continent by the colonialist since 1885.
He posited that, Nigeria being a nation the largest black population of the world, with vast oil and mineral deposits in commercial quantity and having agriculture as the mainstay of the economy presents its own challenges and complexity along ethno-communal lines in Nigeria.
General Yusuf explained that, though the problems are daunting challenges but they also remain the main focus of the government of the day by embracing good governance and enthronement of principles of fairness, equity and justice. He said, the provision of desired solution to the identified threat, comprehensive approach to issues, security sector reform, a well resource military and the national security strategy currently under review will address these threats and challenges.
