The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Tukur Yusuf Buratai has commissioned the newly built ultra-modern Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC) office complex in Abuja on Tuesday 17 December, 2019.
The COAS said that, it is gratifying for him to witness the progress that has been made not only in the physical structure but indeed in the academic intellectual exercise that has been carried out at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre. He added that, he is very confident that the Centre will achieve the desired objectives by which it was established.
He equally, commended the Director General NARC, Maj Gen Garba Ayodeji Wahab (Rtd), and the various collaborators both national and international institutions for the progress made within the short period of time. He urged the officers and men of the Nigerian Army to make good use of the facilities as well as ensure its proper maintenance.
In his welcome address, the DG NARC Maj Gen GA Wahab (Rtd) appreciated the effort of the COAS towards the initiation and subsequent execution of the project. He stated that the project will in no doubt enhance the activities of the Centre towards efficient optimal service delivery of its mandate in line with the COAS vision of having a “Professionally Responsive Nigerian Army in the Discharge of its Constitutional Roles.
He further thanked the members, Board of Trustees for their directions and constant preview on the activities of the Centre. He also challenged the entire staff of the Centre to brace up to the expectations, “To who much is given, so much more is expected”, he said.
The beautiful magnificent edifice which is digitally inter-connected with high definition robotic cameras contains the Director Generals’ office, 8 offices for the Directors and other officers serving at the Centre. The complex also houses 3 Conference Halls with the seating capacity 150-250 each respectively. Others are E-Learning Centre, E-Library, Special Board Room, Syndicate Rooms, and Breakout Rooms furnished with the state of the art equipment backed with a 350-KVA’s standby generator to provide electricity in case of power outage.
In a related development, the 11th NARC Lecture series titled “Repositioning the Nigerian Army to meet the Transmuting Security Threats facing the Nation: Prospects and Challenges“ which was delivered by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen TY Buratai was held in commemoration of the commissioning of the ultra-modern complex immediately after the commissioning. The well attended lecture was the maiden lecture series to be held at the new complex.
Dignitaries who graced the occasion were the former Minister of Interior and Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Abdulrahman Dambazau (Rtd), Amb. Babagana Kingibe and Sen. Ben Bruce amongst others, Heads of Security Agencies, Principal Staff Officers from Defence and Services Headquarters, senior military officers both serving and retired, the management and staff of NARC.
