The Director General, Nigeria Army Resource Centre, Major General Garba Ayodeji Wahab (Rtd) on Wednesday, 20 October 2021 decorated personnel of the Centre who benefitted from the recent promotion exercises by the Nigerian Army for the year 2021.
The decoration ceremony which took place in Conference Hall “B” TY Buratai Block in Abuja had in attendance senior officers both serving and retired . The break down of the promotion is as follows one Captain has been promoted to the rank of Major, two Warrant Officers to the rank of Master Warrant Officer while one Private soldier was appointed Lance Corporal.
Speaking during the Ceremony, the Executive Director, Nigerian Army Resource Centre Consult, Major General JGK Myam charged the newly decorated personnel to take responsibility that comes with the new rank serious. He noted that, to whom much is given, much is expected. “Your service to the Nigerian Army has been recognised. You must live up to expectations, your promotion will come with alot of benefits, you must take your family along”, he said.
In related development, the Director General ceased the occasion to bid farewell to three senior officers who served meritoriously at the Centre. One of the senior officers, Brigadier General AOD Okoro who was the Subject Expert South America and Carribean has been posted to Army Headquarters Department of Transformation and Innovation and appointed Director of Operations and Analysis, Brigadier General AOI Sangokoya and Brigadier General TA Adelanwa who were Research Fellows are now retiring on successful completion of exemplary service in the Nigerian Army.
The Director General in his remarks, congratulated the newly decorated personnel on their promotion. He also enjoined the senior officers who are sent off to be a flag and a symbol for others to emulate. The Director General admonished the retiring senior officers not to see retirement as a crime or a curse but rather, a wonderful thing that everybody must pass through. He thanked them for their immense contribution in moving the Centre forward.
Major SM Akinkunmi in his vote of thanks onbehalf of the newly promoted personnel, thanked the Chief of Army Staff for deeming it fit to promote them. He also thanked the Director General for his visionary leadership that has inspired them to work harder while serving the nation.
