The Director General, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Professor Ali Pantami recently commissioned the Digital Divide Bridging Centre at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), Abuja.
In a brief remark at the Centre’s Foyer, he said, it was a great pleasure for him to be at NARC to commission the Digital Divide Bridging Centre, an intervention project for the Nigerian Army Resource Centre. He added that before now, the agency had commissioned 246 projects across the country, including a Wide Area Network, ID Hubs and Capacity Building Centre’s for women, youth and children. He further stated that the only reason he goes to commission projects most importantly is to draw the attention of the beneficiaries and to make sure that they utilize it effectively.

Prof Ali said, that the DG NARC was in NITDA recently to appreciate the efforts of the agency for their intervention and it is a clear indication that the Centre knows the value of its intervention project and they are willing to utilize it effectively.“ We are here actively to visit you, wish you all the best and to see what the Centre requires and to also provide you with more interventions in future”, he said.
He further said, that based on his discussion with the Director General and a few words of his remark, he believes they both have a lot to do together. And that is why they are in the process of formalizing the relationship between NITDA and NARC. More so, he said the visit also was a way of just expressing their appreciation for the sacrifice and commitment of the military in keeping Nigeria and Nigerians together.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Director General of NARC Major General Garba Wahab (rtd) thanked the Director General of NITDA for the provision of the Digital Divide Bridge Center. He described how beneficial the gesture was to the Center saying that the equipment will be used judiciously to serve the purpose since the essence of security is networking. National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is a public service institution established by NITDA Act 2007 as the ICT policy implementing arm of the Federal Ministry of Communication of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It has sole responsibility of developing programs that cater for the running of ICT related activities in the country.
The Director General, National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP), Dr Dan-Azumi Mohammed Ibrahim who was also present at the ceremony assured the DG NARC of his commitment to help protect the intellectual property rights of the Centre. Present at the occasion were members of staff of NITDA and Directors of NARC.
