The wife of the late Prof Chukwuma Osakwe, Dr Mrs Amede Chukwuma, has said that the knowledge shared will help humanity solve the rising issues every day. She said this during the Formal Presentation of 1,039 academic and research materials to the Nigerian Army Resource Centre NARC), Abuja. The materials presented on Thursday, 7 April 2022, comprised 796 books, 122 research materials and 121 theses. The materials are books and research works of the late Professor that could be useful for research studies in the Centre.
Presenting the materials to the Director General (DG), Major General Garba Ayodeji Wahab (Rtd), the widow of the late scholar, Dr Amede Osakwe, said the materials would contribute to the body of knowledge at the Centre. She added that the books and research materials would also assist the Centre in its quest to proffer solutions to the nation’s security challenges. Dr Amede described her husband as an
astute scholar who loved to impact knowledge on humanity. “I couldn’t think of any other saying that could make him happy and proud rather than share his body of work with humanity. That knowledge shared will help humanity to solve the issues that are rising every day”, she said. She concluded by thanking the centre for the beautiful support and the Nigerian Army.
The Director of Library, Production and Archives, Brigadier General H Mohammed, in his welcome address, commended the kind gesture of the family of late Professor Chukwuma Osakwe to the Centre. He said that whoever gives knowledge gives life and that the knowledge left by the late Professor Osakwe is being shared in Nigeria and the world in general.
Earlier, the DG NARC, in his remarks, thanked the family of late Osakwe for identifying with NARC and deeming it feet to donate the books and the research material to solve humanity’s problems. He added that the readers would enrich the Centre’s Library and enhance its research activities to proffer solutions to the country’s various challenges. The DG described the late Osakwe as a problem solver to humanity who spent all his life working hard to ensure the world lives in peace.
The Director of Research, NARC, Professor CBN Ogbogbo, while giving the vote of thanks on behalf of the NARC, thanked the family for deeming it worthy of depositing what defined Osakwe to the Centre for use not only for the Centre but for humanity. He also thanked all that gathered to celebrate an aspect of a life of outstanding academia, one of the foremost Military historians the country produced. It was worthy to note that late Professor Chukwuma Osakwe before his death was former Head of the Department of History and War Studies, Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) and Head of the Centre for the Study of Leadership and Complex Military Operations.
The high point of the presentation was the donation of the materials to the Centre and the production of a plaque to the widow of the late Professor Chukwuma Osakwe by the DG.
