The NARC’s Weekly Subject Experts Presentations on Monday 10 July 2023 was held at Hall C, TY Buratai Block. There was only one presentation made by Brig Gen OD Donibo the Subject Expert for India sub-continent.
The presentation dwelt on the state of Pakistan’s economy and the inflation eased in June, the first time in seven months, following record borrowing costs, dampened demand, lower commodity prices and slowed price-gains. The presenter highlighted the geographical and security implications of the challenges faced by Pakistan’s government and the country’s economy. He discussed measures taken by the Pakistan government to achieve a record low of inflation and made comparison with the Nigerian economy amid rising inflation, multiple exchange rates and subsidy removal. He pointed out factors contributing to Nigeria’s poor economic development and suggested appropriate measures by which the Federal Government of Nigeria could mitigate the nation’s economic problems viz tackling issues of corruption, availability of affordable power/energy for industries, improvement of the mining and agricultural sectors, cutting down cost of governance and addressing security issues in all ramifications.
