The week’s final edition of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC) Weekly Subject Experts’ Presentations was held at Hall C, TY Buratai Block of the Centre in Abuja. Presentations were made by two Subject Experts. They made presentations on their areas of coverage, namely: the Federal Republic of Nigeria and East and Central Africa.
The first presentation was made by Brig Gen COA Idowu, Subject Expert for the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The focus of this presentation was the recent approval of an Energy Transition Plan (ETP) by President Muhammadu Buhari as he reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to net zero emissions. In the course of the presentation, Nigeria’s current energy situation was discussed as well as the implications of the new energy plan. Ways to ensure the success of the plan were discussed and recommendations were put forward.
The second presentation of the day was made by Brigadier General SN Eze, Subject Expert on East and Central Africa. Brigadier General SN Eze’s presentation discussed the value of agriculture and how it could serve as a good source of revenue for a nation. He noted how Rwanda’s agricultural exports had increased significantly and how this has helped boost the economy of the nation. The ways to boost agricultural production and its impact on the national economy and security were the focus of subsequent disucssions.
Present at the briefing were the Executive Director NARC Consult, Major General JGK Myam, management staff, Senior Research Fellows, Research Fellows, Consultants, senior officers, and other staff of the Centre.
