A Senior Political Advisor Embassy of Switzerland, Mr Nicholas De Torrente on Tuesday August 27 2019 paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), Abuja. During his maiden visit to NARC, Mr Nicholas said that the Centre is of an incredible value to the Nation not only for the fact that it is independent, but also looking at the levels of local and international partnerships it enjoys with reputable research institutions.
Speaking earlier, the Executive Director NARC Consult, Maj Gen IM Yusuf expressed pleasure to welcome the delegation to the Centre. He said that, the Centre has achieved so much within a short time as a result of its research based methodologies since its establishment in 2015.

He further added that, the visit of the delegation would not have come at a better time than now, knowing the delegation primarily as a peace facilitator working assiduously to strengthen peace in Nigeria and having been involved in the promotion of peace and conflict prevention, management and resolution across the world.
During a closed door meeting with the ED NARC Consult, some selected Directors of the Centre and the Executive Director NEEM Foundation, Dr Fatimah Akilu, the Senior Political Advisor Mr Nicholas De Torrente, raised some issues concerning the Concept Note earlier submitted by the Centre for a proposed Research Project as follows:
- There was the need to expand the methodology for the proposed research work as contained in the Concept Note.
- There was the need to consider the scope of the research project in terms of time, content and location of the study.
- The proposed Roundtable between the Centre and the North East Development Commission should be done after necessary consultations with the Office of the National Security Adviser and other stakeholders. This was important in order to avoid possible conflict of interest.
The delegation was also briefed on the activities of the Centre and was later conducted on a guided tour of the facilities and the NA Museum, where the Team members were introduced to some military artifacts and other objects of historical importance. Present at the occasion were the Executive Director NEEM Foundation Dr Fatima Akilu, Directors, senior officers as well as senior civilian staff of the Centre.
