Professor Jim I. Unah, a Guest Speaker at Nigerian Army Resource Centre’s (NARC) monthly Lecture Series, has described insecurity as a bye product of security.
He stated this on Wednesday 18 March 2020 during the 14 NARC Lecture Series themed ” THINKING SECURITY IN DIVERSITY,” held at NARC Conference Hall C, Abuja with top security echelons and civil society organizations in attendance.

Deliberating further, the Distinguished and erudite Professor stated that the term “security” is a multilayered concept, which when properly clarified and understood, is applicable to any situation of peaceful living which individuals, communities, nations and international communities, as well as international relations systems, exist without fear, danger or threat. Adding that as a metaphysical and political concept, security is elusive because it has an ”oxymoronic and paradoxical ” character.
Also speaking at the event, the Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Tukur Yusuf Buratai, who was represented by the Chief of Army Policy and Plans, Lt Gen LO Adeosun appreciated the guest speaker for a well-delivered lecture, the facilitators for their resourcefulness and other invited guests for honouring the occasion with their presence.
He thereafter reaffirmed that the aim of security is to have a robust defence and security infrastructure that will safeguard the territorial integrity of a nation or State, defend its sovereignty and maintain law and order within the nation or state.
