The Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), has held a graduation ceremony for the participants of Strategic Management and Policy Studies Course 2/2019.
The ceremony which took place on Tuesday 6 August, 2020 at the NARC Conference Hall C, was chaired virtually by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt Gen Tukur Yusuf Buratai at the Army Headquarters, Abuja.
In his Farewell address, the COAS who was represented by the Chief of Administration (Army) Maj Gen Usman Shehu Yakubu who spoke virtually from the army headquarters, thanked the Army Chief for his visionary leadership that has catapulted the Nigerian Army into a professionally responsive army.
He further, congratulated the graduands for successfully completing the course, while commending the DG NARC, resource persons and course facilitators for a well-done job.
Earlier, the Director General NARC, Maj Gen Garba Ayodeji Wahab (Rtd) expressed appreciation to the Board of Trustees for their approval and unalloyed support towards the success of the programme. He also used the occasion to pay tribute to the late senior officer, Brig Gen SOF Olowolayemo who died on 1 April, 2020 while still participating in the course.
It is imperative to note that the graduands of SMPSC were made up of 16 participants which composed of 9 NA officers (4 Maj Gens and 5 Brig Gens). Others are 2 Commodores from the Nigerian Navy, 2 Assistant Directors Internal Security from the Department of State Service, 1 Corps and Deputy Commander each from the Federal Road Safety Corps and 1 Deputy Director from the Defence Intelligence Agency.
It is also worthy of mention that, as part of the Centre’s collaboration with the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), the graduands having been found worthy of character and in learning will be awarded Master’s Degrees in Strategic Management and Policy Studies by the NDA during a joint convocation ceremony later this year.
The high point of the ceremony was the conferment of membership of NARC to the 16 graduands and the presentation of certificates to graduands by the DG NARC.
