The Chief Of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Farouk Yahaya has said that the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC) has gained recognition from local and international institutions in the quest to improve research and proffer solutions to emerging security challenges
The Army Chief stated this at the presentation of a Book “Soldiering and Nation Building’ : A Festchrift, in honour of the Director General (DG) of NARC, Major General Garba Ayodeji Wahab (Rtd) at the Multi Purpose Hall of the Centre. The COAS described the DG as a man of honor and also wished him more fruitful years in life.
The ceremony had in attendance top former Chiefs of Army Staff, military Generals and gathering of academias at the presentation of the book to mark the 64th birthday of the DG NARC, and his intellectual contribution to the military In finding solution to the contemporary security challenges.
The Army Chief, spoke on the contribution made by Major General Wahab which was highly commendable.
The Book Reviewer, Commandant, Nigerian Defence Academy, Major General Ibrahim Manu Yusuf said the 342 page book, written in honour of General Wahab, highlighted the roles of a soldier in the quest to secure Nigeria and Nigerians. It also showcased the enviable profile of Major General Wahab and his contributions to Nation Building. The book contains 16 chapters and was written by 14 authors comprising top seven Professors and seven members of faculty and research fellows of NARC.
The Chairman of the occasion and former Chief of Army Staff, General Martin Luther Agwai (Rtd) described DG NARC as one of the top best brains and disciplined officers the Nigerian military has ever had and adviced him to do more.
The celebrants, thanked guests and all the management staff of NARC for giving him a befitting birthday surprise and promise to do his best in proffering solutions to the issues that will change in nation building.
Present at the Birthday Celebration and book launch were the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq who was represented by the Deputy Governor of the State, General Martin Luther Agwai (Rtd), General Abdulrahman Danbazau (Rtd), Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, representatives of the Chiefs of the Naval Staff and the Air Staff, representative of the Emir of Ilorin and other heads of security agencies, senior officers, family members of the celebrant among other top government and private individuals.
