The Acting Chief of Training, Army Headquarters, Nigerian Army, Major General Abubakar Sadiq Ndalolo has said that as leaders, the ability to think fast and exercise command and control of troops placed under us is paramount to the growth of the Nigerian army and Nigeria in general.
He stated this recently during the graduation ceremony of the participants of Leadership Awareness and Development Course 1/2021 held at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Abuja.
The course was aimed at training and re-awakening the consciousness of the Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs), of the Nigerian Army on their leadership responsibilities by reason of their position as the bridge between officers and soldiers.
Additionally, the SNCO of the Nigerian Army are the key players in upholding service virtues and ethos, hence the need for the programme which is strategically targeted at improving critical thinking and sound-decision making among the course participants for their optimal performance in a dynamic and evolving environment.
Early in his welcome address, the Director General Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Major General Garba Ayodeji Wahab (Rtd) thanked God for making the day a possibility and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), for challenging the Centre to come up with a programme on leadership and development for the SNCOs. He equally thanked Major Gen Ndalolo for working tirelessly within the shortest period of time in ensuring the success of course.
He however, reiterated the need for the SNCOs to be abreast of their leadership responsibilities, by reason of their position as the bridge between officers and soldiers, hence the need for leadership awareness and development to further get them informed for a better performance.
In the same vein, the Director of Human Resource Development NARC Brig Gen Usman Bello highlighted that, the course was conceived to train the SNCOs of the Nigerian Army in various leadership essentials, reawaken them to their responsibilities to lead effectively and bridge the obvious gap in the 21st Century realities, especially while operating in a joint environment.
The highpoint of the event was the presentation of certificates to the graduating participants by the Special Guest of Honour.
