The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt Gen TY Buratai, has charged the participants of the Strategic Management and Policy Studies Course (SMPSC) to improve their capacity to execute strategy, from opportunity finding to idea generation for developing of business plan and market validation as well as risk management.
He said this on Wednesday 9 October 2019 during the inauguration ceremony of 2019 SMPSC held at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC) Conference Hall C, Abuja. He urged the participants to use the opportunity provided to them by the course to enhance their knowledge on security management by developing the capacity to carry out security risk assessment and other concept on human resource development.[images_grid auto_slide=”no” auto_duration=”1″ cols=”three” lightbox=”yes” source=”media: 4770,4771,4773,4774″][/images_grid]
In addition, he stressed that, the participants would have a better understanding of critical and system thinking, as well as networking and sharing of different perspectives on issues that would be discussed in the cause of the programme amongst others. This, he said will equip participants with the capacity to package ideas, goods and services professionally.
He further commended the Director General NARC and his management staff for their efforts in bringing the course to fruition, while also appreciating the resource persons for their immense contributions.
It is imperative to note that the Nigerian Army Resource Centre has developed a curriculum for Strategic Management and Policy Studies Course, which is designed for middle and senior level class of Defence and security agencies, corporate organizations and civil populace. Thus, the course is aimed at enhancing performance on current and future jobs.
Similarly, the DG NARC Maj General GA Wahab seized the opportunity, to brief on Strategic Management and Policy Studies Course (SMPSC) which he said, is an eleven months programme for senior military officers and their equivalent in Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government.
Furthermore, the DG mentioned that the SMPSC is organised in collaboration with Nigerian Defence Academy Post Graduate Schools leading to the award of Masters Degree to successful participants.
