The Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC) on Friday 28, 2022 held a graduation ceremony for participants of Professional Conflict Management and Alternative Dispute Resolution Accreditation and Certification Course.
The graduation ceremony held at the NARC Conference Hall B, TY Buratai Block in Abuja, after a 5-day intensive training, lectures and learning.
In his closing remarks, the Director General (DG) NARC, Major General Garba Ayodeji Wahab (Rtd), said that the course was designed for the personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, paramilitary agencies and corporate organisations as well as the civil society.
According to him, the course was grounded and centred on conflict management and conflict resolution. He observed that conflict will always be there in as much as we don’t do the right thing or provide what is required and we must proffer solutions to our basic problems. We have a major role to play in fixing the Nigerian conflict because, the deficit is more than the dividend. “Yes, this is the first course in conflict management we are doing and we believe that the solution to our problems lies within us. Nobody from anywhere outside Nigeria can do it for us”, he said.
Earlier, the President, Mediation Training Institute Nigeria, Ambassador Segun Ogunyannwo said the Professional Conflicts Management and Alternative Dispute Resolution Accreditation and Certification training program introduces the core principles of negotiation, mediation, reconciliation and arbitration and offers basic skills for effective communication and interpersonal relationships, thereby equipping participants with the requisite knowledge, skills, and expertise that will enable them render valuable services to their organisations, families and communities.
The course is in line with the mandate of NARC which is proffering solutions to defence and security issues confronting the Nigerian Army and the nation at large as well as human resource development he noted.
In her vote of thanks, , Mrs Amalaonye Kachuku on behalf of the course, commended the Centre for affording them the opportunity to participate in the course and pledged to deploy the knowledge acquired during the course in performing their tasks in their various places of endeavour.
She said that the knowledge would open new horizons for the people to begin to use their brain and look at different perspectives while handling conflict situation in their various institutions.
The high point of the ceremony was the presentation of certificates to the course participants and souvenirs to the various syndicates for their performances by the Director General NARC.
