Today’s edition of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC) Weekly Subject Experts’ Presentation was held at Hall C, TY Buratai Block, NARC, Abuja. There were two presentations made by the Subject Experts covering East and Central Africa.
The first presentation was delivered by Brig Gen FM Babayo who presented on a topic title ” Stemming of the Brain Drain challenges of the Nigerian Health Sector”. He introduced the paper with conceptual clarification of some terms. He thereafter dwelled on the brief origing of Brain Drain. He also brought out the causes of Brain Drain in the Nigerian health sector. The senior officer further analysed the Brain Drain challenges of the Nigerian health sector, while he suggested strategies aimed at stemming brain drain challenges in the Nigerian’s health sector. Gen Babayo finally recommended that the FGN should implements the strategies of the stemming brain drain challenges in the Nigerian health sector.
The second presentation was made by Maj Gen GB Audu, subject Expart for East and Central Africa. His presentation discussed the crisis raging Las Anod region of Somaliland. He focused on the desaster brought by the recent escalation of fighting between Local Militia and the regional troops. He noted the serious dimension of the fighting attracted attention of the international community. He further made analysis and also brought out lessons on Nigerian situation. While discussing the way forward, Gen Audu suggested the use of early warning mechanisms by government which he opined could be an effective tool for preventive instruments measures. He finally recommended that FGN should encourage state and local governments to establish links with network of community vigilantes as early warning.
Present at the briefing were the Executive Director Consult, Major General JGK Myam OFR and other management staff, Senior Research Fellows and Research Fellows, Consultants, senior officers, and other staff of the Centre.
