Today’s edition of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC) Weekly Subject Experts’ Presentation was held at Hall C, TY Buratai Block,Abuja. Two Subject Experts on South America & Caribbean and the Middle East made presentations.
The first presentation was made by Brig Gen M Ibrahim where he discussed the report about the National unity call made by the Brazilian president Liuiz Inacio Lula Dasilva to rebuild Brazil. According to the report, he made the appeal on the eve of his 100th day in office while reviewing the main measures of his administration has taken.
While given analysis, Brig Gen M Ibrahim acknowledged that Nations and natural cohesion are built on the foundation of justice and equity, noting the overarching principles that Brazil is trying to build upon. He however noted that Nigeria can no doubt overcome the challenges of ethnic disunity that is quietly threatening its sovereignty. He said according to various national frameworks. Nigeria has to sine in the consciousness of Governments and nation builders that justice and equity are critical ingredients needed to turn Nigeria constitution into an effective instrument of national reunion.
The second presentation concentrated on the news report that says “Bahrain Launches Golden Licence Scheme to attract investment”. He said the initiative is aimed to attract new investment
project and to boost job creation in the Bahrain. He added that the licence was introduced by the Bahrain’s cabinet to attract investment from local and international companies.
In his analysis and lessons for Nigeria, he noted that Nigeria has gone through several reforms since the inception of the 4th republic in 1999 to attract foreign investors to boost her economy which he said has not yielded the much desired result.
Maj Gen JG Mohammed added that the local entrepreneurship development has not fair any better despite various intervention schemes by the government. He also stated that government actions and polices are still not convincing for investors to come into the economy due to increasing doubts about the insecurity of the economy. He further mentioned some of the factors that hindered progress in the sector which he said include, but not limited to the following, insecurity, corruption, poor infrastructural facilities and legal measures or the judicial system. He further recommended to make corruption punishable by death.
Present at the briefing was the Director General, Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Major General Garba Ayodeji Wahab Retired, Senior Research Fellows, Research Fellows, Consultants, Senior officers, and other staff of the Centre.
