The Centre for Gender Security Studies and Youth Advancement (CeGSYAD), University of Abuja is set to collaborate with the Nigerian Army Resource Centre on research and development. This was made known recently during a courtesy visit by the Director of the CeGSYAD University of Abuja Prof Ekundayo F. Ocholi and members of her team to the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Abuja.
Prof Ocholi said the reason for the visit was to seek areas of collaboration with the Centre for the advancement of gender equality and youth development. She added that since the NARC is a research based Centre, the collaboration is worthy in enhancing their efforts in the areas of conducting research, seminars and workshops for the betterment of the society in general.
Speaking earlier, the Director General NARC, Maj Gen Johnny Hamakim expressed his appreciation to the members of the team for their visit. He enjoined both parties to do more by way of cross-fertilization of ideas and interfacing with relevant government agencies like the National Assembly, National Orientation Agency and others that would assist in championing the course of the collaboration. He also pledged to support the initiative that will ensure the success of the partnership.
He further stated that the visit was hoped would enable the two parties discuss and explore specific areas of collaboration. This is hinged on the fact that both Centres’ have mutual interest in research and learning in several fields, including gender issues. Present at the event were the visiting Prof. OBC Nwolise, the Executive Director NA Consult Maj Gen MI Yusuf, other Directors and senior officers of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Abuja.
