The Director General (DG) Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC) Major General Garba Ayodeji Wahab (Rtd) on Wednesday, 6 October 2021 decorated the newly promoted soldiers of the Centre who have benefitted from the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) welfare mission to reward personnel who have performed excellently in discharging their duties.
This is contained in the promotion soldiers, from Private to Warrant Officer for the year 2021. Out of the 12 soldiers who benefitted from the promotion, three Staff Sergents were promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer, one Sergent to Staff Sergent, five Corporals to Sergent and three Privates to the rank of Lance Corporal respectively.
The DG in his remark congratulated the newly decorated soldiers and urged them to contribute their own quota by engaging in research as NARC is a research Centre where everyone most keep developing himself. The DG also challenged them to take their responsibilities more seriously.
Speaking during the Ceremony, senior officers adviced the newly decorated soldiers to remain focused and develop themselves. They also urged urged them to be more dedicated in carrying out their responsibilities as promotion comes with additional commitments. Warrant Officer Silas Tinah in his vote of thanks on behalf of the promoted soldiers expressed his gratitude to the almighty God for making the day possible. He also thanked the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) for finding them worthy of the promotion . Silas appreciated the DG NARC for the fatherly role he plays in their lives while serving at the Centre and pledged to be more dedicated to their duty in driving both the COAS and the DG’s visions to move the service forward.
In another development, the occasion was used to Send-off two (2) Master Warrant Officers who have discharged from the Nigerian Army after a meritorious service. The affected Senior Non-commissioned Officers are MWO Salihu Aliyu and MWO Rabe Ibrahim.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Consultant and Director of Corporate Affairs and Information Service, Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman advised the discharged personnel to keep themselves busy and find something doing with their lives after retirement. He also admonished them to look at retirement as something very important and also a turning point in their lives. Brigadier General Usman reminded them that they are going to contribute more to the society than when they were in the service and should therefore make good use of their retirement benefits.
Similarly, the DG in his remark, reminded them that this period in their lives is a period for them to determine finally what they want to do with their lives and must start it early. He equally advised the celebrants to be active while out of service in order not to allow their brains to shut down because, once their brains shut down , they will have a little time to live. Master Warrant Officer Aliyu in his vote of thanks on behalf of his colleague thanked God for a meritorious service in the Nigerian Army and prayed that God should grant them long life to enjoy the fruits of their labour and end the challenges of insecurity in the country.
The Ceremony was attended by members of staff of the Centre, and families and friends of the decorated soldiers.
