Today’s edition of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC) Weekly Subject Experts’ Presentation was held at Hall C, TY BURATAI BLOCK NARC, Abuja. There were two presentations made by the Subject Experts covering India Sub-Continent and Nigeria.
The first presentation was delivered by Brig Gen OD Donibo Subject Expert for Indian Sub-Continent. The presentation focused on the Indian Airforce Release of its New Doctrine. In lessons and implications for Nigeria’s National Security, the senior officers stated that there was a need for a National Joint Doctrine for the three Armed forces in the country. This would contribute to guiding campaigns, Major operations, battles, and engagements thereby making military operations seamless and effective. He further stated that the lack of a National Joint Doctrine has made tackling insecurity insurmountable in the country.
The second presentation was made by Brig Gen MF Babayo Subject Expert for Nigeria. The senior officer’s presentation amidst other headlines perched on the different sides of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s cashless policy and currency redesign. It highlighted Nigeria’s chronological process of change of currency policies. Hoarding of banknotes, guarding against currency counterfeiting, alignment with global best practices, and a means to curbing insecurity were dotted as the reasons for the redesign policy. He further stated that the cashless policy and currency redesign has led to the slowing down of economic activities leading to protest and riots. He recommends that to quell the resistance, the CBN in collaboration with National Orientation Agency launch a public sensitization campaign to educate the public on the need for the change in cash policies.
Present at the briefing was the Director General, Director of Research, Ed Consult, Senior Research Fellows, Research Fellows, Consultants, Senior officers, and other staff of the Centre.
