The Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), Abuja today, held Friday edition of the Weekly Subject Experts’ Briefing at Hall B, TY Buratai Block, NARC, Abuja. Two Subject Experts assigned to cover East and Central Africa and North America made their presentations.
The first presentation was made by Brigadier General AA Nguru, Subject Expert on East and Central Africa. The presentation discussed the increasing hunger and food inflation that is being expereiced in Eastern Africa. In his analysis, Brigadier General AA Nguru noted the impact of the Russia-Ukraine War on the rising prices of commodities in the region. In relation to Nigeria, he also noted the rising inflation and the hunger which is endemic in many parts of Nigeria. The implications of the rising food crisis were discussed while ways of addressing the challenge were proffered.
The second and final presentation of the day was made by Brigadier General TA Ogunsugba, Subject Expert on North America. Brigadier General TA Ogunsugba focused his presentation on the recent Subway Shooting in America and highlighted the response of the authorities and the speedy manner in which the perpetrator was caught. The American response was contrasted with Nigeria’s response to similar issue – the Abuja – Kaduna train attack. Identifying the unsatisfactory nature of response to emergencies by the security and emergency authorities, suggestions for improvement and necessary interventions were discussed and recommendations were made.
Present at the briefing were the Director General, Major General GA Wahab (Rtd), the Executive Director Consult, NARC, Major General JGK Myam, Director of Research, Professor CBN Ogbogbo and other management staff, Senior Research Fellows and Research Fellows, Consultants, senior officers, and other staff of the Centre.
