The Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), on Thursday, 15 December 2022 organised a send-off ceremony in honour of four senior officers and two members of Academics after a meritorious service at the Centre and the Nigerian Army in general. The ceremony took place at Hall C, TY Buratai Block of the Centre in Abuja.
The affected Senior officers are: Major General YI Shalangwa, Major General CV Ezeh, Brigadier General JA Lawoyin and Colonel IA Omoyayi. The senior officers are retiring after a successful completion of an exemplary service in the Nigerian Army while two members of Academics were also sent-off after one year sabbatical leave at the Centre. The two members of academics are: Professor Ikenna Mike Alumona who was a Senior Research Fellow and Dr Terfa Kahaga Anjov was also a Research Fellow. Prior to their retirement, Major General YI Shalangwa and Major General CV Ezeh were both Senior Research Fellows while Brigadier General Lawoyin was the Director of Information Communications and Technology and Colonel IA Omoyayi a Research Fellow.
In his remarks, the Director General (DG), NARC, Major General Garba Ayodeji Wahab (Rtd) thanked the senior officers for their immense contributions and selfless service to the Nigerian Army, the Centre and the nation at large. “It is important to note that the most productive part of your life has been used to service the system but, you can still add value and make a change in the next face of your life”, he said to the retired senior officers. The DG also commended the Academics for their contributions to the Centre and admonished them to be good ambassadors of the Centre and in whatever the appointment they will hold in the course of their career adding that, they must remain focused and determined. He further wished them God’s guidance in their future endeavours.
Major General YI Shalangwa (Rtd) in his vote of thanks on behalf of the celebrants, thanked the DG, and the management staff of the Centre for their support and cooperation while serving in the Centre. He also assured the DG that they will be good ambassadors of the Centre.
The climax of the ceremony were the presentation of souvenirs and gift items to the celebrants by the DG as a mark of appreciation for their contributions and service to the Nigerian Army.
