Maj Gen Garba Ayodeji Wahab
Major General Garba Ayodeji Wahab (rtd) is the incumbent Director General NARC and the second since the establishment of the Centre in 2015. He hails from Ilorin in Kwara State and attended the University of Lagos where he read Political Science and Kings College London, where he obtained two Masters of Arts degrees in Defence Studies and International relations. He was commissioned into the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police as a Lieutenant in December 1983 and voluntarily retired from service on the rank of Major General on 28 January 2015.
For his grounding in military affairs, Wahab attended many courses, which include; the Young Officers Infantry; Military Police Officers’ Basic, Police Administration and Management and System Approach to Training and Curriculum courses. Others are the Junior and Senior Command and Staff Courses, the Advance Senior Command and Staff and the Royal College of Defence Studies Courses in the United Kingdom.
Garba served in various instructional, staff and command capacities at the Military Police Corps, Army and Defence Headquarters levels. These include; instructor and directing staff at the School of Military Police, Nigerian Defence Academy and Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji. The Military Assistant to the Chief of Policy and Plans (Army), Commander Training and Doctrine Command, the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff. He also served as the Principal Staff Officer to two Chiefs of Army Staff. He was a director of operations at the Army Headquarters, General Officer Commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army with his last appointment before retirement being the Chief of Administration (Army).
Wahab earned a host of decorations while on active service, some of which are the Field Medal of Honour as GOC, General Staff Medal of Honour as the Chief of Administration, psc(+) and rcds. He is well read and an affirmed human resource developer with emphasis on security.
